General
What is QuetzalPay?
QuetzalPay is the Quetzal app for getting paid on the spot: create an invoice, let the customer scan the QR code or send it by email, watch the payment happen in real time and track every receipt.
Who is QuetzalPay built for?
Any business whose customers can pay with a phone: restaurants and food trucks, contractors and trades, cleaning and home services, salons and spas, auto repair and towing, events and markets, property managers, gyms, clinics, movers and couriers, plus fuel and propane distributors, managed IT, wholesalers and HVAC companies.
Do my customers need to download an app to pay?
No. Customers point their phone camera at your QR code or tap the link you send, and pay by card on a secure web page. Only you use the QuetzalPay app.
Does QuetzalPay work with Quetzal POS?
Yes. QuetzalPay is made by the same Oakville team. If you already use Quetzal POS, sign in to QuetzalPay with the account you already have.
Industries
Can a food truck or market stall accept payments by QR code?
Yes. Put a QuetzalPay QR code on your truck, counter or booth. Customers scan it with their phone camera, pay by card on a secure page and get a receipt, and you see every payment land in real time.
Can restaurants and food trucks use QuetzalPay?
Yes. Print a QR code on the table, the bill or the truck window so guests can pay from their own phone, no card machine to pass around. Catering deposits can be sent as a payment link.
How do contractors and home service businesses get paid on site?
Create the invoice on your phone when the job is done and show the QR code, or text a payment link. You can also take deposits before ordering materials and charge maintenance plans on a schedule.
Can I use QuetzalPay at events, markets or pop-ups?
Yes. One QR code per booth, table or entrance is all you need, no terminal, no Wi-Fi setup. Use it for sales, entry fees, tickets and donations, and see every payment in one report.
Can property managers collect rent with QuetzalPay?
Yes. Charge rent, condo fees and storage on a schedule using stored cards, send payment links for one-off charges, and see late payments flagged automatically.
Bulk & batch
What file formats can I upload?
Upload a CSV or Excel spreadsheet exported from your billing or accounting system. We’ll help you map the columns the first time.
Can batches run on a schedule?
Yes. Schedule a batch to run daily, weekly, at month-end or on a custom date, and QuetzalPay charges each account’s stored card automatically.
What happens to declined payments?
Declines are flagged in the batch results with the reason. Retry them, or send the customer a payment link or QR invoice in a couple of taps.
Payment links
How do customers receive a link?
By email or text message, or printed on the invoice. The link opens a secure page where they review the invoice and pay by card.
Do payment links expire?
Only if you want them to. Set an expiry date when you create the link, or leave it open until the invoice is paid.
Security
Does my team see full card numbers?
No. Customers enter their card on a secure payment page and stored cards are tokenized, so full card numbers never touch your phone or your team.
QR & reports
How do QR code payments work?
QuetzalPay shows a QR code for the invoice. The customer scans it with their phone camera, pays by card on a secure page, and the payment shows up in QuetzalPay instantly.
Can I put a QR code on my invoices?
Yes. Print an invoice code with the amount filled in, or use one fixed code for a counter, truck, table, sign or event.
Do I need a card terminal to accept mobile payments?
No. QuetzalPay runs on the phone you already have, and your customers pay on theirs. If you want one, we also offer handheld terminals and pocket card readers.
What reports can I run?
Daily settlement, payments by method, invoice tracking, batch results, customer history and accounting exports, in CSV or Excel.
